World Water Day 2025 centres on glacier preservation. Glaciers supply water and support ecosystems. They also keep communities from discovering the market value of thirst. The Lawn acted decisively. It put one ice cube in the committee room fridge. A permanent marker now protects it better than most glaciers.
Glacier preservation receives executive attention
The Office for Frozen Assets chose a three point plan. First, it will recognise glaciers. Next, it will commission a logo. Finally, it will call melting “liquid stage landscape modernisation”. Officials say no ice vanished. Instead, it simply moved on to a more ambitious postcode.
Crispin Meltwater, Undersecretary for Snow Retention, said: “Our glacier preservation record is exceptional. This morning we found a puddle outside the leisure centre and named it a Transitional Ice Opportunity. It is already the borough’s fastest growing protected glacier, especially when the drain is blocked.”
A public campaign will ask households to keep one ice cube at the back of the freezer. Participants must photograph it monthly, complete a resilience diary and resist putting it in gin, even when national morale calls for leadership.
Ministers have also approved a summit in a heavily air conditioned hotel, where delegates will discuss energy restraint beneath patio heaters. The final statement will promise urgent action by 2045, provided urgency does not create paperwork or make anyone cold.
At sunset, a ceremonial ice cube was carried towards safety in a ministerial limousine. It melted before reaching the freezer, but officials said the journey had raised awareness, which is now apparently the same thing as survival.
