NHS chargepoints give fleet vehicles a place to plug in
NHS chargepoints will appear at more than 200 sites to support cleaner ambulances and operational fleets. Electric vehicles can now recharge near hospitals without first consulting a maze of apps and a noticeboard.
Funding will help trusts install the equipment needed for the move to electric fleets. The cables will be installed with the quiet authority of an object that knows exactly which cupboard everyone will later use for boxes.
Awards vary by trust and location. Each site can therefore enjoy a tailored plan, plus the universal experience of finding that bay four belongs to estates.

“The fleet transition should be smooth,” said Dr Ampere Socket Ward, Consultant in Vehicular Energy. “The important thing is that every cable feels seen, labelled and properly returned.”
Electric fleets can reduce emissions and running costs. This leaves hospitals free to concentrate on care while a very organised person confirms that the charger has its own key card.
Projects may change as delivery develops. The plug standards will also continue their ancient ritual of multiplying whenever a driver feels briefly confident.
