Outer Space Committee asks the cosmos to respect the agenda
The Outer Space Committee has met for its 68th session to discuss peaceful uses of space. Earth was invited to observe quietly and immediately began arguing near the biscuits, which is why the Moon prefers not to host conferences.
Delegates heard how satellites can support global development goals. They map crops, track weather and connect communities. Humanity also uses orbit to check whether its takeaway has turned left.
Space avoids the neighbourhood group chat
The committee has promoted peaceful cooperation above the atmosphere for decades. Space benefits from having no parking, no boundary fence disputes and no group chat devoted to a suspicious van.
“The cosmos remains committed to constructive dialogue,” said Ambassador Cosmo Paperclip of Orbiting Agenda Items. “Mars raised one procedural concern, but it forgot to unmute.”
Space technology gives countries a shared view of the planet. The view is magnificent, one blue world with no borders visible and several thousand officials insisting their lanyard grants priority boarding.
The minutes escape the solar system
The committee will continue supporting cooperation. Any alien civilisation receiving the minutes may conclude that humans invented infinity chiefly to provide sufficient room for subcommittees.
Finally, delegates looked upward with hope. The stars looked back across unimaginable distance, saw the 68th session discussing the previous minutes and quietly moved another galaxy behind them.
