Olly Murs warms up Wembley before football does
Olly Murs will perform two songs before Chelsea face Manchester United in the Women’s FA Cup Final. The teams must then play football under the difficult conditions created by an extremely catchy chorus.
Murs will open the show at Wembley on 18 May. Later that evening, he performs again at the OVO Arena nearby, making him the only person scheduled for two Wembley fixtures without recovery boots.
The singer supports Manchester United but praised both finalists. This demonstrates professional neutrality and the basic survival instinct of someone standing inside a stadium containing many Chelsea supporters.
“We analysed his set using expected bangers,” said Tina Turnstile, Head of Pre-Match Choreography. “Both tracks carry an xB value above 0.8 and excellent movement between speakers.”
The final kicks off at 1.30pm, after television coverage begins. Players will stretch, coaches will check tactics, and one mascot will ask why the singing man is not marking anyone.
At the Department of Sporting Entrances, officials ruled out extra time for the performance. Nobody wants penalties decided by which bench can complete the final chorus.
Once the music ends, Chelsea and United will decide the trophy themselves. Murs must settle for completing a same-day Wembley double without receiving a booking.
