Norway Iceland treats defending as a private matter

The Norway Iceland match at Women’s EURO 2025 ended 4 3. Both teams treated a clean sheet as an outdated household chore best left until after the tournament.

Norway took three points in Thun. Iceland scored often enough to make the result feel like a password being guessed one determined digit at a time.

Seven goals gave supporters exceptional value. Coaches received ninety minutes of footage called areas for improvement and no realistic chance of fitting it into one meeting.

The defensive shape welcomes visitors

“Our defensive shape was fluid,” said Solveig Goalmouth Sørensen, Tactical Curator of Open Spaces. “At times it became a welcoming crescent with excellent sightlines.”

Finland and Switzerland drew 1 1 in the other Group A match. Those players used only two goals and left five available for the evening fixture, which was considerate tournament resource management.

Norway’s attack repeatedly found a route through. Iceland replied with the persistence of a neighbour returning a borrowed ladder while the front door keeps moving.

The match had goals, drama and very little unnecessary security. Spectators left delighted. Both defences left a forwarding address and asked not to be contacted before Monday.

Three points arrive by express service

The whistle eventually stopped the scoring. The analysis began immediately, mainly because the players had generously provided enough material for a full series.
